Agents Who Blog

Get an inside peek into the world of a literary agent with these blogs

  • Pub Rants:  Agent Kristin rants about the publishing world, including queries, writers and the industry.
  • Miss Snark:  Sadly, Miss Snark no longer blogs.  However, her archives are still available and filled with advice for new writers.  Her blog posts are, at times, harsh.  But they're always honest.
  • Jennifer Jackson:  Jennifer's blog is a cornucopia of posts related to publishing.  It includes an "Agent Manners" Q&A column where she responds to inquiring writers.
  • Lyons Literary LLC:  Agent Jonathan Lyons' posts include a few on-going series, including "Reading Rumbles" and "Word of the Week."  It's infrequently updated, but the posts are usually filled with good advice.
  • The Rejecter:  The Rejecter is an assistant at a lit agency.  In this blog you'll find advice that will get your manuscript past the assistant's desk.
  • Book Cannibal:  Book Cannibal is written by a NY literary agent, but she doesn't really blog about the publishing world.  Rather, her posts examine books--including things like plot, characterization and style.  It's great insight into the analytical processes of an agent.
  • BookEnds, LLC:  Written with a casual style, this Literary Agency blog is an interesting read.  The tone is conversational, so you'll be learning information about the publishing world without even realizing that the blogger is imparting knowledge.
  • Nephele Tempest:  Nephele Tempest "writes and rambles" about books and publishing.  Her blog posts include updates about her agency, including information about author chats.
  • Janet Reid:  Janet Reid blogs about her thoughts as a literary agent, as well as offers some personal notes and observations about life in general.
  • Nathan Bransford:  Fun and friendly, Nathan Bransford's blog is peppered with witty lines and amusing anecdotes.  Read this blog and you'll be entertained as you learn about the publishing world.
