Warnings For Fiction Writers

Websites that post warnings about unethical editors, lit agents and publishers

• Absolute Write:  The forums at this website have a "Bewares and Background Check" section where writers post their warnings about unethical and/or shady professionals in the publishing world.

• Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America:  The SFWA organization has a list of their top 20 most questionable lit agencies.  To make the list, the agency must have a reputation for engaging in abusive practices with writers.

• Another Realm:  The Preditors and Editors (TM) section is loaded with links to useful information.  The Literary Agent section, for examples, includes an alphabetical list of agents plus Another Realm's notes about the agency's practices.  Suspect agencies have comments like "Charges fee. Not recommended." posted beside their name.
